Here I am 50 years old and I decided to pick up the cello, again. Last time I picked up the cello was 35 years ago and I am so happy I am playing the world’s most beautiful instrument.
I just can’t express my joy hearing music coming from my own hands. I want to say beautiful music, but it’s not there yet. I do have fond memories of playing beautiful music or maybe it’s true what they say – Your memories get better over time.
I picked up my rental cello on June 3, 2017. I played it that afternoon. There was some muscle memory – the left fingers remembered where to go but not always hitting the correct note. I remembered the “C” scale and my bow stroke was mostly in a straight line. There was also some pain – My left fingers and shoulders were sore and my right thumb was so sore from the holding the bow. Curse the “frog” :-)!
